IP Author is now available inside ChatGPT. After signing in with an IP Author account, users can run prior art searches across 183 million patent publications and research papers, US freedom to operate checks with claim by claim readings, claim charts, landscape counts and USPTO prosecution history and examiner statistics in a chat. Results export as Word, Excel or PDF reports, while drafting and saved projects stay in the IP Author web app.
Buyer relevance. Patent teams that already work in ChatGPT can pull search and file history into the chat instead of copying results between tools. IP Author says content reached through the plugin falls under its own security and retention terms and is never used to train its models, but the conversation itself still runs in ChatGPT, so firms should check ChatGPT's terms before discussing unpublished inventions there.
