O
One LEGALE

One LEGALE is Wolters Kluwer Italia's online legal research platform for Italian lawyers, built on legislation, commented case law, doctrine, journals and practice tools from the group's Italian publishing brands Pluris, CEDAM, UTET Giuridica, Leggi d'Italia and IPSOA. Its AI layer, launched as One AI in May 2025 and available with specific subscriptions, has two parts. The One AI Assistant answers questions asked in natural language from that content, with links to its sources, and turns a described issue into a draft legal opinion with references.

Giurimetria, available since 2021, searches Court of Cassation rulings by fact pattern and shows how judges have decided similar cases. One Legal Assist links the statutes and judgments cited in a Word or PDF document to their full text in One, and the platform connects with Kleos, Wolters Kluwer's practice management software. Since July 2026 the separately sold Libra legal AI workspace can be used inside One through an add in.

One LEGALE is sold on annual subscription, with a trial on request. It is operated by Wolters Kluwer Italia S.r.l. of Milan, which holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

Capability grades

All 15 axes, graded from public sources on the date shown. Hover a grade to see what the letter means on that axis.

BB on AI CentralityThe models are the engine of a core capability, layered on a product that would still function without them as a document or workflow system.

AI Centrality

How much of the product is actually AI. Whether the machine learning is the mechanism the buyer is paying for or a feature layered onto conventional software, and whether the vendor is specific about which is which.

The models are the engine of the AI edition's core capabilities, layered on a research database that Wolters Kluwer Italia sold before they arrived and still sells without them. The model work is real and named. The One AI Assistant answers questions in natural language from One LEGALE's content and drafts legal opinions structured in sections. Giurimetria applies AI models to Court of Cassation case law to show how judges have ruled on similar facts.

The press release of 13 May 2025 launched this layer as One AI, and the current product page opens by saying One LEGALE applies generative AI to its proprietary and official sources. The database itself is the counterweight. Legislation, case law, commentary, journals, practice guides and the One Legal Assist citation linker are described without any model. The legal notes say the AI solutions are not open to every user but come only with specific subscriptions. Remove the models and a full research platform remains.

BB on Citation Accuracy and Hallucination DisclosureGrounding is real and documented, with linked primary sources and a described retrieval method, short of published accuracy figures an outsider can test.

Citation Accuracy and Hallucination Disclosure

Whether the vendor publishes measured accuracy on citations and assertions, grounds output to primary sources, and says plainly what its system does when it does not know. Legal has a documented public record of fabricated citations reaching filed briefs, so an untested claim of accuracy is not evidence.

Grounding in the publisher's own sources is described in some detail, and no accuracy figure is published. The One LEGALE AI flyer says assistant answers are always verifiable through links to the sources in One LEGALE, and that opinion drafts always carry references to the sources. Marinella Agostini, innovation director for Wolters Kluwer's legal and regulatory business in Italy, described the method on 16 July 2025.

It is retrieval augmented generation over selected Wolters Kluwer sources, several tens of millions of documents, with the retrieved passages passed to the generative engine and the links to them kept. The release of 8 July 2026 says every AI function in One stays tied to the underlying sources. No error rate, test set or evaluation is published, and nothing says whether citation status is checked. A Wolters Kluwer marketing manager said in an interview published 13 May 2025 that every answer is verifiable and at zero risk of errors, and no published measurement supports that claim.

Source: Vendor Published
BB on Autonomy and Oversight ModelA written commitment that the models work alongside a supervising lawyer, with real review surfaces, short of the full control structure: commonly the threshold at which the system stops or what happens after it is wrong.

Autonomy and Oversight Model

What the system decides on its own, what a lawyer must approve, and whether the vendor documents where the review point sits. A tool that drafts under review and a tool that files without one are different products and different risks.

Wolters Kluwer states that the lawyer stays in charge, with source links and structured drafts as the review surfaces, and no control structure beyond that. Nothing in One LEGALE acts on a matter by itself: the assistant answers and drafts on request, and Giurimetria returns a statistical picture of Cassation rulings. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes commit it to the principles of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on transparency, human control and accountability.

They say AI outputs are not an opinion or legal assessment given by a professional, and place full responsibility for checking inputs and for any conduct based on outputs on the user. A Wolters Kluwer marketing manager said on 13 May 2025 that the assistant works alongside the lawyer rather than replacing them. Marinella Agostini describes access to full sources as what lets users apply their own verification. The mechanism is missing.

No review step, threshold or limit tied to a named feature is described, and nothing says what happens after a draft opinion proves wrong.

CC on Operational and Outcome EvidenceCustomer logos and unattributed testimonials stand in for evidence, or results are quoted with no basis stated.

Operational and Outcome Evidence

Named, dated evidence that the product works in production at real firms or legal departments. Case studies with figures and identified customers count. Unattributed testimonials and launch announcements do not.

One time saving figure is published with a thin basis, and no customer is named. The One LEGALE AI flyer says a lawyer can save up to 80 percent of the time spent on legal research. It cites a Wolters Kluwer survey of a panel of One LEGALE AI users, with no sample size, date, method or named participant. The launch release of 13 May 2025 quotes Giulietta Lemmi, chief executive of Wolters Kluwer Italia, on the precision of the answers.

The Giurimetria launch release of 28 September 2021 quotes a Wolters Kluwer marketing executive, and neither names a user. No case study, testimonial, logo or firm quote was found on the product, content, Giurimetria or trial pages, in the flyers or in the news pages. Public bodies do buy One LEGALE. The Italian Transport Regulation Authority's procurement decision of 24 April 2026 covers 80 accounts for three years, with no AI feature among the ten modules listed.

CC on Privilege and Confidentiality PostureConfidentiality is asserted in general terms, or the commitment lives only in a sales conversation and cannot be read in advance.

Privilege and Confidentiality Posture

How client confidences are handled: attorney client privilege and work product treatment, segregation of one client matter from another, whether client data trains any model, and what the vendor commits to in writing rather than in marketing.

One commitment sits in published terms, no training on what users enter, and the rest of the confidentiality picture is general. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes govern the site carrying the Assistente AI and Giurimetria and are accepted by using it. They state that content users enter is not used to train its AI systems. The group privacy notice, version 1.5 of June 2026, limits access to personal information to staff, partners and providers with a real need, and describes technical and organizational measures for confidentiality, integrity and secure processing.

Nothing addresses professional secrecy, privilege or work product, separation between users or matters within a subscribing firm, how long questions and opinion drafts are kept, or what any model provider may retain. The subscription conditions that would carry a confidentiality clause are not published, and the legal notes reserve the right to change them at any time without notice.

Source: Vendor Published
BB on UPL and Professional Responsibility PostureA real position is published on advice versus tooling, short of full treatment: commonly a disclaimer without the supervision and competence dimension, or silence on jurisdiction limits.

UPL and Professional Responsibility Posture

Whether the vendor is clear that it supplies a tool rather than legal advice, who its audience is, and how it addresses unauthorized practice of law, competence and supervision duties, and jurisdiction limits. ABA Formal Opinion 512 is the reference point. Where the advice line is not the duty a product raises, the axis is read through the nearest professional duty it does raise: judicial conduct rules and the reviewing duty for products sold only to courts, and the duty to bill for time actually spent for products that draft time entries.

The advice line is drawn in the legal notes, with a commitment to tell users when they are dealing with AI, and competence appears only in interviews. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes say outputs from the Assistente AI and Giurimetria are not, and may not be read by users or third parties as, an opinion or legal assessment given by a professional. They say outputs cannot guarantee any result and depend on the user's input, for which the user is fully responsible.

They also commit to tell users when they interact with the AI. The product page sells One LEGALE as the AI solution for lawyers, and Marco Pro's interview of 13 May 2025 says the AI supports the lawyer's professionalism rather than replacing it. No page addresses a lawyer's supervision or competence duties under the Italian professional code or bar guidance. No published term limits access to professionals, and the Italian law focus is not stated as a limit.

Source: Vendor Published
CC on AI Governance and Bias DisclosureResponsible AI principles are published without a mechanism, a testing regime, or anything a buyer could audit.

AI Governance and Bias Disclosure

Published governance over model behavior: who owns it inside the vendor, what is tested before release, and what is disclosed about disparate output across matter types, parties, or populations.

Group principles and a short list of controls are published, without an owner, test results or any finding on uneven output. Wolters Kluwer's AI Principles set out five commitments: privacy and security, transparency and explainability, governance and accountability, fairness, and a human focus. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes commit to the principles of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. They say the AI solutions use content filtering and relevance controls to identify and mitigate the risks of generative AI.

Two interviews from July 2025 describe the editorial side. Tiziana Castiglione, a product manager, says the company controls every phase of the engine's development, ships improved releases every month and keeps fine tuning both on new content and on checking outputs. Marinella Agostini says the content is tested and retested by internal and external experts. None of this names an accountable owner, describes a test protocol or reports results.

Giurimetria turns Cassation rulings into outcome statistics, and nothing is published on which matter types or party roles it handles less reliably.

Source: Vendor Published
CC on AI Safety and Data StewardshipA generic privacy policy covers the product without addressing what happens to documents and prompts after processing.

AI Safety and Data Stewardship

Retention, deletion, access control, and what happens to prompts and documents after they are processed. Whether the vendor states its subprocessors and its incident practice, or leaves the buyer to assume.

A general privacy notice and company security commitments cover the product, and nothing describes what happens to questions, uploaded text and drafts after use. The Wolters Kluwer privacy notice, version 1.5 effective June 2026, says personal information is kept as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for and then removed or anonymized. It grants the usual GDPR rights including erasure, lists recipient categories such as affiliates and hosting providers, and protects international transfers with EU model clauses.

Wolters Kluwer Italia's integrated policy for quality, information security and business continuity, revision 06 of 23 April 2026, commits to the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information. No retention period for AI inputs or outputs, named subprocessor or model provider, breach notification commitment or description of access controls inside the One platform was found. The subscription conditions and any data processing agreement for One LEGALE are not published, so the generic notice is what a firm can read.

Source: Vendor Published
CC on AI Liability and RecourseLiability is addressed only through a standard limitation clause that disclaims the exposure the product creates.

AI Liability and Recourse

What the vendor stands behind contractually when its output is wrong. Indemnities, caps, carve outs, insurance, and whether any of it is published or only reachable through a negotiated agreement.

Liability is addressed through a disclaimer that excludes the exposure the AI creates. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes say that, unless the law provides otherwise, it cannot be held liable for damage arising from access to the site, from reliance on its information, or from use of the outputs generated by the AI solutions. They add that it gives no guarantee and assumes no responsibility for the truthfulness, absence of errors, accuracy, completeness or currency of any content found or generated through the site, outputs included.

The customer service FAQ points to the statutory conformity guarantee of the Consumer Code, which protects consumers rather than law firms. No cap, indemnity, insurance, service level or warranty on output was found. The subscription conditions that would set the contractual allocation are not published. The Wolters Kluwer Italia terms portal carries conditions for Kleos and three other software products but none for One LEGALE. A buyer can read the disclaimer before signing and nothing else.

BB on Practice Systems Integration DepthReal integrations exist and are documented, short of depth: named connections without a description of what they actually move.

Practice Systems Integration Depth

How deeply the product reaches into the systems legal work already lives in: document management such as iManage and NetDocuments, Word and Outlook, contract lifecycle management, matter management, e-billing, and court filing systems.

Two named connections are described, one of them in useful detail, and neither at the level an implementer would need. One Legal Assist works with Microsoft Word and PDF files. It analyzes the document being drafted or received, finds references to legislation, administrative practice and judgments, turns them into links to One, and opens the updated full text without a new search. The product page says integration with Kleos, Wolters Kluwer's practice management software, and with the La Mia Biblioteca digital library gives simultaneous access that speeds up matter management, research and saving related documents.

It calls One LEGALE a virtual law office integrated with the firm's systems. Since 8 July 2026 the separately sold Libra workspace can be used inside One through an add in. Depth is missing. Nothing says what moves between One LEGALE and Kleos or in which direction. Nothing says whether answers and opinion drafts from the One AI Assistant can be sent to Word or saved to a matter, or what a firm must configure to connect them.

CC on Deployment Model and Data ResidencyCloud delivery is implied and neither the tenancy model nor the region is stated.

Deployment Model and Data Residency

Where the software runs and where the data sits. Multi tenant cloud, single tenant, private deployment, on premises, and whether region of residence is a published option or an enterprise conversation.

Delivery is online, and neither the hosting region nor the tenancy model is stated. One LEGALE is reached through a login portal at onelegale.wolterskluwer.it and on mobile devices with voice search. Wolters Kluwer Italia's ISO/IEC 27001 certificate covers software solutions delivered on premises, as SaaS or in the cloud. The Wolters Kluwer privacy notice, version 1.5 of June 2026, says personal information may be shared with affiliates and hosting providers in other countries under EU model clauses or other safeguards.

That permits processing outside the European Union without saying whether it happens. No data center location, region option, private or dedicated deployment, or location for the generative engine was found on the product pages, the launch materials, the legal notes or the customer service pages. Public procurement records show accounts sold with individual logins and limits on concurrent access, which describes licensing rather than deployment.

BB on Security Certifications and Trust CenterCertification is real and stated, short of accessible evidence: a named standard without scope, date, or a way to obtain the report.

Security Certifications and Trust Center

Independent attestation a buyer can pull without a sales call: SOC 2, ISO 27001, penetration test summaries, a trust center with current reports and named scope rather than a badge image.

Wolters Kluwer Italia holds a current ISO/IEC 27001 certificate with a named auditor, scope and dates, published openly, and no product page or trust center presents it. RINA Services certificate 746/21, first issued 2 December 2021 and reissued 23 February 2026, covers Wolters Kluwer Italia S.r.l. at Via Bisceglie 66, Milan, and six other Italian sites. It certifies them to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for designing and developing software solutions on premises, as SaaS and in the cloud, and for delivering ICT and digital publishing services.

It runs to 1 December 2027 under a statement of applicability dated 10 October 2024. RINA also certifies the company to ISO 22301 for legal and compliance SaaS, valid to 27 October 2027, and to ISO 9001, and its integrated security policy was revised on 23 April 2026. All are PDFs on Wolters Kluwer's own content hub. The certificate names the company rather than One LEGALE, no SOC 2 report or penetration test summary is offered, and nothing covers the hosting or model providers.

Source: Vendor Published
CC on Model Supply Chain DisclosureThe vendor refers to advanced or proprietary models without identifying what sits underneath.

Model Supply Chain Disclosure

Which models sit underneath, whose they are, where they run, and whether the vendor commits to telling customers when that changes. A legal buyer inherits every dependency it cannot see.

The retrieval design is described, and the models underneath are not named. Marinella Agostini described the architecture on 16 July 2025 as retrieval augmented generation. The system queries selected Wolters Kluwer sources, retrieves the relevant passages and passes them to a generative engine, which writes the answer while keeping the links to what it was given. Tiziana Castiglione said two days later that Wolters Kluwer does not rely on generic engines pretrained on content found online.

She said its language model is trained only on Wolters Kluwer's own documents and that new releases ship every month. The two accounts are not reconciled anywhere, and neither names a model, a model family, a provider or where inference runs. Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes and the group privacy notice name no AI provider, and no subprocessor list was found. No commitment to notify subscribers of a model or provider change was found, and no notice of what changes in the monthly releases is offered.

CC on Commercial TransparencyPricing is gated behind a demo request while tier names and feature splits are published, so the shape is visible and the number is not.

Commercial Transparency

Whether a buyer can learn what this costs without entering a sales process: published rates, the unit being charged, what sits behind an enterprise tier, and what implementation adds.

The subscription terms are public in outline, and no price is. The One LEGALE pages route every buyer to a trial request form, and the trial page for One LEGALE with Libra gives no duration or price. Wolters Kluwer Italia's customer service FAQ says subscriptions run for a year from the order date and renew automatically. Cancellation is by certified email at least 90 days before expiry for editorial products and 180 days for software contracts.

Marco Pro's interview of 13 May 2025 describes One LEGALE as modular and configured to each lawyer's specialization. The legal notes say the AI solutions are not open to every user but come only with specific subscriptions. No figure, plan name or per user rate appears on any Wolters Kluwer page read. Public procurement records carry contract values for One LEGALE accounts bought by public bodies. They are buyers' records for configurations that list no AI feature, not a published price.

BB on Firm and Practice CoverageSegment and practice coverage is described with substance, short of the boundaries: what is supported is clear, what is not is left open.

Firm and Practice Coverage

Who the product is actually built for. AmLaw, midlaw, small firm and solo, in house departments, government and courts, and which practice areas are supported rather than merely claimed.

Lawyers are the named buyer and the practice areas are listed, with only Giurimetria's limit stated. The product page presents One LEGALE as the AI solution for lawyers, covering all areas of legal specialization with legislation, commented case law, doctrine and practice tools from Pluris, CEDAM, UTET Giuridica, Leggi d'Italia and IPSOA. Marco Pro's interview of 13 May 2025 names company law, insolvency, labor, family, civil liability and real estate, and describes the platform as configurable to each lawyer's specialization.

Libra's documentation for its One LEGALE connection lists two configurations: civil, commercial and compliance, and criminal. One Legal Assist is offered to professionals, companies and public administration. Giurimetria analyzes Court of Cassation rulings only, and its launch release of 28 September 2021 says it started with labor law before extending to other areas. Left open: which areas the One AI Assistant answers well or poorly, and how in house teams and notaries are served by the AI features. No page states that coverage is limited to Italian law.

Legal Signals

What each signal means

A signal records what public sources say on the date shown. It is not a grade and it is not a recommendation. Where a signal reads Not addressed, it means the index did not locate the material in public sources on that date, which is a statement about disclosure rather than about the product.

Confidentiality and Privilege

Client Data in Training

Can material a lawyer puts into this product be used to train a model?

Never, in the contract

The published terms prohibit training on customer content. Not a policy page, the agreement.

Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes, which govern the site carrying the Assistente AI and Giurimetria and are accepted by using it, state that content users enter on the site is not used to train its AI systems. The legal notes are not the subscription agreement, which is not published, and Wolters Kluwer Italia reserves the right to change them at any time without notice.

Prompt and Output Retention

How long does the product keep what a lawyer typed, and can that be set to zero?

Disclosed without a period

Retention is acknowledged in public materials with no stated period.

The Wolters Kluwer privacy notice, version 1.5 of June 2026, keeps personal information for as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for and then removes or anonymizes it. No period is stated for questions, uploaded text or opinion drafts in One LEGALE, or for anything a model provider keeps.

Ethical Walls and Matter Segregation

Does retrieval respect the firm’s ethical walls, or can the model read across them?

Not addressed

No located public material addresses walls or matter level segregation.

Checked the One LEGALE product, content, Giurimetria and trial pages, the legal notes, the privacy notice and the customer service FAQ on 2 October 2026. Nothing addresses separation between users, teams or matters within a subscribing firm; the privacy notice only limits access by Wolters Kluwer staff and providers to those with a need.

Third Party Request and Subpoena Notice

If someone subpoenas the vendor for a firm’s data, does the firm hear about it first?

Disclosure addressed, notice absent

Published terms or policy address disclosure to authorities or in response to legal process, and no commitment or reservation regarding customer notice is located anywhere. The vendor has told the customer that data can leave and has said nothing about whether the customer hears of it.

The Wolters Kluwer privacy notice, version 1.5 of June 2026, lists government authorities, regulators and other third parties as recipients in response to a legal request or court order or as otherwise required by law. No commitment or reservation on notifying the customer was located there, in the legal notes or on the product pages.

Primary Law Corpus Provenance

Where does the law in this product come from, and does the vendor have the right to use it?

Sources named, basis unstated

Sources are identified without stating the license or rights basis.

The product and content pages name the source material as legislation, commented case law, doctrine, journals and practice tools from Wolters Kluwer's Italian publishing brands Pluris, CEDAM, UTET Giuridica, Leggi d'Italia and IPSOA, with official sources described as always up to date. Giurimetria draws on Court of Cassation rulings. The rights basis for the official sources and an update cadence are not stated.

Good Law Verification

Does the product tell you when the authority it just cited has been overruled?

Prompts the user to verify

The product instructs the reader to check the citation without performing the check.

The One LEGALE AI flyer says assistant answers are always verifiable through links to the sources in One LEGALE, and a Wolters Kluwer innovation director described that access to full sources as what lets users apply their own verification. One Legal Assist links citations in Word and PDF documents to the updated full text in One. Nothing describes a check on whether a cited decision has been overturned or a cited provision amended or repealed.

Refusal and Uncertainty Behavior

What does the product do when the answer is not in the corpus?

No located public material addresses what the product does when it cannot ground an answer.

Checked the product, Giurimetria and content pages, the One LEGALE AI flyer, the launch release, the July 2025 interviews and the legal notes on 2 October 2026. The legal notes say the AI solutions apply content filtering and relevance controls to mitigate the risks of generative AI, and nothing describes what the assistant does when the sources hold no answer.

Fabricated Citation Record

Does a public court record exist addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations in output from this product?

None located

No court order, opinion or disciplinary record addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations produced by this product has been located as of the date shown. This is a statement about the public record on that one subject, not a finding about the product, and this signal is not a litigation history.

Searched the AI Hallucination Cases database maintained by Damien Charlotin on 2 October 2026 for One LEGALE, OneLegale, One AI, Giurimetria and Wolters Kluwer Italia, and no recorded case was returned. No court order, opinion or disciplinary record naming the product was located. This is a statement about the public record rather than a finding about the product.

Professional Responsibility

Bar Guidance Alignment

Has the vendor engaged in public with the ethics opinions its buyers are bound by?

Generic reference

Public materials refer to professional responsibility in general terms without naming guidance.

Wolters Kluwer Italia's legal notes commit to the principles of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 and say AI outputs are not an opinion or legal assessment given by a professional, and the launch interviews describe the AI as supporting rather than replacing the lawyer's professionalism. No ethics opinion, National Bar Council guidance, article of the lawyers' code of conduct or Italian Law 132 of 2025 is named.

Source: Vendor PublishedAs of Oct 2, 2026Evidence

Billing and Fee Posture

Does the vendor address what happens to the bill when the work takes an hour instead of six?

Savings claims only

Public materials claim time savings without addressing billing or disclosure, and the product sits inside a fee relationship between a lawyer and a client where those savings would change the bill.

The One LEGALE AI flyer says lawyers can save up to 80 percent of the time spent on legal research, citing a Wolters Kluwer survey of a user panel, for a product sold to law firms whose clients pay for that research. Nothing addresses how AI assisted work is recorded, billed or disclosed to clients.

The privacy notice lists recipient categories only, and no subprocessor list, model provider or client facing disclosure material was located, nor any offer of one on request.
