A
Aranzadi Allegra

Aranzadi Allegra is the generative AI legal assistant of the Spanish legal publisher Aranzadi LA LEY, working from the publisher's own collection of close to 10 million documents of legislation, case law and expert commentary rather than the open internet. In one workspace it answers questions in plain language, analyzes uploaded judgments, briefs and contracts with links to the sources it cites, and drafts letters, claims, appeals and contracts.

Four analysis modes rate a contract's risks clause by clause, test a compliance policy against the applicable rules, check the reasoning of the user's own brief and look for weaknesses in an opposing filing. Allegra Flow, launched on 30 June 2026, turns one description of a case into a plan of research, analysis, drafting and review phases. Allegra itself launched on 26 March 2026. It is sold through demos to law firms, legal departments and public bodies, and is included for the first user of Aranzadi One, the package for solo lawyers and small firms.

The company names Azure OpenAI as its technology partner. Aranzadi LA LEY is based in Madrid and owned by the Scandinavian Karnov Group.

Capability grades

All 15 axes, graded from public sources on the date shown. Hover a grade to see what the letter means on that axis.

AA on AI CentralityThe artificial intelligence is the product. Remove the models and there is nothing left to sell.

AI Centrality

How much of the product is actually AI. Whether the machine learning is the mechanism the buyer is paying for or a feature layered onto conventional software, and whether the vendor is specific about which is which.

The models are what Aranzadi LA LEY sells under this name, and the collection beneath them is sold separately. Allegra has its own product page and demo request, and the launch announcement of 26 March 2026 presents it as a new solution conceived from legal practice rather than a general purpose AI adapted to law. Every function is model work: answers to questions in plain language, analysis of uploaded judgments, briefs and contracts, and drafting of letters, claims, appeals and contracts.

It also covers four analysis modes for contracts, compliance policies, the user's own briefs and opposing filings, and, in Allegra Flow, a plan for a whole matter generated from one instruction. The product page describes what it calls a legal agentic retrieval system built on Karnov Group's patented algorithms and leading language models. The publisher's content is sold on its own through databases such as Aranzadi Ley, Supra and Infinita. Remove the models and what is left is content the publisher already sells elsewhere.

BB on Citation Accuracy and Hallucination DisclosureGrounding is real and documented, with linked primary sources and a described retrieval method, short of published accuracy figures an outsider can test.

Citation Accuracy and Hallucination Disclosure

Whether the vendor publishes measured accuracy on citations and assertions, grounds output to primary sources, and says plainly what its system does when it does not know. Legal has a documented public record of fabricated citations reaching filed briefs, so an untested claim of accuracy is not evidence.

Grounding in the publisher's sources is documented and shown to the user, and accuracy is asserted rather than measured. The product page says Allegra shows the sources it relied on and the reasoning that led to the answer for review and audit. It says that in Allegra Flow every answer, analysis and draft is connected to its sources, its reasoning and the legal basis behind it. The AI guide hub describes document analysis with automatic links to the sources cited and answers based on legislation in force.

The launch announcement of 26 March 2026 says Allegra works only on the publisher's collection of close to 10 million documents. The agreement points the other way: clause 1.5 of the general conditions of sale says AI results may contain material inaccuracies and must always be verified by professionals. No accuracy figure, test set, error rate or evaluation is published on any Aranzadi LA LEY page.

Source: Vendor Published
BB on Autonomy and Oversight ModelA written commitment that the models work alongside a supervising lawyer, with real review surfaces, short of the full control structure: commonly the threshold at which the system stops or what happens after it is wrong.

Autonomy and Oversight Model

What the system decides on its own, what a lawyer must approve, and whether the vendor documents where the review point sits. A tool that drafts under review and a tool that files without one are different products and different risks.

A written principle that the lawyer decides, with review surfaces and a verification duty in the agreement, but no control structure for the workflow mode. The product page's human in the loop statement says final decisions rest with the professional and that Allegra does not replace the lawyer. The launch announcement of 26 March 2026 says professional judgment validates and decides each step. Clause 1.5 of the general conditions of sale says AI results are indicative and must always be verified by professionals, and clause 10 calls the publisher's products a tool meant to complement, not replace, human work.

The review surfaces are real: sources and reasoning are shown with each answer, and Allegra Flow offers interactive editing to edit, comment on or ask for changes to each output. The boundary is missing. Nothing says whether Allegra Flow pauses for approval between phases, which steps run unattended, or what happens after an answer is found to be wrong.

BB on Operational and Outcome EvidenceReal deployment evidence with substance, short of full attribution or measurement: a named customer without figures, or figures without the named customer.

Operational and Outcome Evidence

Named, dated evidence that the product works in production at real firms or legal departments. Case studies with figures and identified customers count. Unattributed testimonials and launch announcements do not.

Named lawyers at named firms describe their use, and one gives a result, with no dates or method. The product page quotes five lawyers by name and firm. Susana Barba López of Barba Bufete Abogados says that in practically a month the firm recorded three litigated matters won thanks to data obtained with Allegra. Javier Utrera Marín of Javier Utrera Abogados credits the combination of a case file manager, case law and doctrine with the AI and a considerable reduction in working time.

Jesús Martín Villanueva of Galache Abogados, Eduardo Ortega of EO Abogados and Luis Jesús Bárcena Sánchez of Bárcena Sánchez Abogados describe faster research, well structured answers and information that is easier to verify. The presentation event of 27 May 2026 drew more than 300 professionals. Figures of more than 23,000 customers and 325,000 users describe the publisher as a whole rather than Allegra. None of the quotes is dated, and the one result carries no method.

Source: Vendor Published
BB on Privilege and Confidentiality PostureSubstantive published commitments on confidentiality and training use, short of the full picture: commonly silence on segregation between users or matters, or on what the underlying model provider may retain.

Privilege and Confidentiality Posture

How client confidences are handled: attorney client privilege and work product treatment, segregation of one client matter from another, whether client data trains any model, and what the vendor commits to in writing rather than in marketing.

Training and confidentiality are written into the agreement, beside a broad license over prompts; privilege, separation between users and the model provider's position are not addressed. Clause 1.5 of Aranzadi LA LEY's general conditions of sale says the client's prompts will in no case be used to train its present and future AI tools, and that uploaded content and results belong to the client. Clause 1.4 commits the publisher to the utmost confidentiality and secrecy over data the client enters and limits staff access to employees who need it to provide the service.

The same clause 1.5 grants Aranzadi LA LEY and its affiliates a worldwide, sublicensable and transferable license with no time limit to use prompts that contain no personal data, solely to validate quality as the component evolves, which sits against the product page's statement that queries and documents are used only to serve the client. Professional secrecy, privilege, walls between users or matters and what Azure OpenAI receives or keeps are not addressed.

Source: Vendor Published
BB on UPL and Professional Responsibility PostureA real position is published on advice versus tooling, short of full treatment: commonly a disclaimer without the supervision and competence dimension, or silence on jurisdiction limits.

UPL and Professional Responsibility Posture

Whether the vendor is clear that it supplies a tool rather than legal advice, who its audience is, and how it addresses unauthorized practice of law, competence and supervision duties, and jurisdiction limits. ABA Formal Opinion 512 is the reference point. Where the advice line is not the duty a product raises, the axis is read through the nearest professional duty it does raise: judicial conduct rules and the reviewing duty for products sold only to courts, and the duty to bill for time actually spent for products that draft time entries.

A clear position that the tool supports and does not replace the professional, without a user restriction or an express statement on legal advice for the AI. The product page says final decisions rest with the professional and that Allegra does not replace the lawyer. Clause 10 of the general conditions of sale calls the publisher's products a tool meant to complement, not replace, human work and makes it the client's duty to check that results contain no errors.

Clause 1.5 says AI results are indicative and must always be verified by professionals. The same conditions say database and query service answers are informative and not legal advice, while the AI tools clause carries no such statement. Who may use it is left open: the conditions apply to any user, inside an organization or not, and K+ was announced in 2025 for lawyers, public administration, companies and advisory firms. No jurisdiction limit is stated beyond the Spanish content.

CC on AI Governance and Bias DisclosureResponsible AI principles are published without a mechanism, a testing regime, or anything a buyer could audit.

AI Governance and Bias Disclosure

Published governance over model behavior: who owns it inside the vendor, what is tested before release, and what is disclosed about disparate output across matter types, parties, or populations.

Responsible AI principles are published, and the mechanism behind them is not. The product page sets out five principles: reliability, certainty through transparency, ethical AI and bias reduction, privacy and security, and AI with human knowledge. They promise full transparency about the algorithms, data sources and decision processes behind the AI, active work to identify and reduce bias, and continuous supervision and tuning by a team of legal experts and technologists.

The launch announcement of 26 March 2026 says the deployment is fully aligned with the EU AI Act, and the Allegra Flow announcement of 30 June 2026 says its operation is aligned with the Act's principles. None of this is backed by a named owner or committee, an ISO/IEC 42001 certificate, a description of release testing, evaluation results or any published finding on bias. A statement on Aranzadi LA LEY's use of AI is linked from the site footer.

Source: Vendor Published
CC on AI Safety and Data StewardshipA generic privacy policy covers the product without addressing what happens to documents and prompts after processing.

AI Safety and Data Stewardship

Retention, deletion, access control, and what happens to prompts and documents after they are processed. Whether the vendor states its subprocessors and its incident practice, or leaves the buyer to assume.

Confidentiality, encryption and a no training term are published; retention, deletion, subprocessors and incident practice are not. The product page describes a closed environment, end to end encryption and access control, and says queries and documents are used only to provide the service. Clause 1.4 of the general conditions of sale binds Aranzadi LA LEY to the utmost confidentiality over client data and limits staff access to those who need it, clause 1.1 makes credentials personal and nontransferable, and clause 1.5 rules out training on prompts.

Clause 9 keeps buyers' personal data for statutory periods, which covers order data, not prompts or uploaded files. Nothing says how long prompts, uploads or drafts are kept, when they are deleted or whether a user can delete them, and the clause 1.5 license over prompts has no time limit. No subprocessor list or breach notice commitment is published.

CC on AI Liability and RecourseLiability is addressed only through a standard limitation clause that disclaims the exposure the product creates.

AI Liability and Recourse

What the vendor stands behind contractually when its output is wrong. Indemnities, caps, carve outs, insurance, and whether any of it is published or only reachable through a negotiated agreement.

Liability is addressed through a standard cap and disclaimers that leave the risk of a wrong answer with the customer. Clause 10 of the general conditions of sale limits the publisher's maximum liability to the price the client paid for the service in the last year unless intent or gross negligence is established. It gives no further express or implied warranty about how products work, and excludes damage from content that is untrue, inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, from attacks on servers and from failures of third party providers.

Clause 1.5 provides AI results without any warranty and says they may contain material inaccuracies and may not reflect correct, current or complete information. It gives no assurance that a result does not infringe third party rights, and warns that two different clients may receive the same result. No indemnity, insurance or warranty on output is published.

BB on Practice Systems Integration DepthReal integrations exist and are documented, short of depth: named connections without a description of what they actually move.

Practice Systems Integration Depth

How deeply the product reaches into the systems legal work already lives in: document management such as iManage and NetDocuments, Word and Outlook, contract lifecycle management, matter management, e-billing, and court filing systems.

One named connection into practice management software, the publisher's own, described in a sentence. The Aranzadi One page, which sells practice management software for solo lawyers and small firms, says Allegra is built into the package and that its arguments and analyses can be saved directly to the case file. The same package connects to LexNET, the electronic filing system of the Spanish courts, and to Outlook, Google Calendar and Microsoft 365.

The online store presents Allegra with the Aranzadi Fusión editions for firms, corporate legal departments and public administrations, calling it integrated in the last without describing the connection. Inside Allegra, users upload judgments, briefs, contracts and policies for analysis. No Word or Outlook add in for Allegra itself, no API, no connector for other practice systems and no integration documentation is published. Nothing says what moves between Allegra and the case file beyond saved results.

BB on Deployment Model and Data ResidencyDeployment model is stated clearly with partial residency detail, or residency is offered without the processing location being addressed, or the tenancy model is stated on its own with no residency detail published.

Deployment Model and Data Residency

Where the software runs and where the data sits. Multi tenant cloud, single tenant, private deployment, on premises, and whether region of residence is a published option or an enterprise conversation.

Cloud delivery on Microsoft Azure with European storage is stated for the package that bundles Allegra, and where the AI runs is not. The Aranzadi One page, which includes Allegra for the first user, says the software runs in the cloud on Microsoft Azure, that data is hosted in the European Union and that the AI works in a closed environment. The Aranzadi Fusión page says case and contact data is hosted on Azure in the European Union.

Aranzadi LA LEY announced on 24 April 2025 that Azure would be its preferred cloud for deploying AI solutions, and the Allegra page names Azure OpenAI as its technology partner. The detail for Allegra itself is missing. Its own page names no region, nothing separates where Azure OpenAI inference runs from where data is stored, no tenancy model is described and no private or dedicated option is offered.

BB on Security Certifications and Trust CenterCertification is real and stated, short of accessible evidence: a named standard without scope, date, or a way to obtain the report.

Security Certifications and Trust Center

Independent attestation a buyer can pull without a sales call: SOC 2, ISO 27001, penetration test summaries, a trust center with current reports and named scope rather than a badge image.

A national security certification with an open certificate covers the platform that bundles Allegra, and no attestation names the AI assistant. Aranzadi LA LEY holds an Esquema Nacional de Seguridad certificate in the high category, issued by Audertis on 10 June 2025 after an audit on 9 June 2025 and valid to 10 June 2027. Its scope is the information system behind the Aranzadi Fusión legal ecosystem, delivered as software as a service for managing legal case files.

The Aranzadi One page, which includes Allegra, says One belongs to a platform certified under that scheme and links the certificate. The certifications page publishes it openly beside AENOR certificates for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which cover quality and environmental management. Allegra's own page claims compliance with the most demanding cybersecurity and privacy standards without naming one. Neither the certificate nor any Allegra page says the assistant's processing falls within the certified scope, and no ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, SOC 2 report, penetration test summary or trust center is published.

BB on Model Supply Chain DisclosureThe supply chain is partly disclosed: providers named without change notification, or architecture described without the providers.

Model Supply Chain Disclosure

Which models sit underneath, whose they are, where they run, and whether the vendor commits to telling customers when that changes. A legal buyer inherits every dependency it cannot see.

The model provider is named, and the models, where they run and notice of change are not. The Allegra page says the product combines the most advanced large language models in what it calls a legal agentic retrieval system built on Karnov Group's patented algorithms. It presents Allegra as the result of Azure OpenAI and Aranzadi LA LEY joining forces. The launch announcement of 26 March 2026 says Allegra combines its own algorithms with the most advanced language models, such as Azure or OpenAI.

The announcement of K+ on 11 February 2025 described the earlier assistant as a collaboration between Azure OpenAI from Microsoft and more than 300 legal experts and engineers. Aranzadi LA LEY's agreement with Microsoft of 24 April 2025 made Azure its preferred cloud for AI solutions. No model family or version, no inference region and no commitment to notify customers of a model or provider change is published, and no subprocessor list exists to check against.

CC on Commercial TransparencyPricing is gated behind a demo request while tier names and feature splits are published, so the shape is visible and the number is not.

Commercial Transparency

Whether a buyer can learn what this costs without entering a sales process: published rates, the unit being charged, what sits behind an enterprise tier, and what implementation adds.

The editions and one bundling term are public, and no price is. Every Allegra page leads to a demo request. Two editions are described: Allegra for research, analysis and drafting, and Allegra Flow, which adds a matter plan and phased workflows to everything Allegra does. The Aranzadi One page says the package for solo lawyers and small firms includes Allegra for the first user, and promises that quality for less than you would imagine, without a figure.

The general conditions of sale govern purchases in the online store and carry a clause on its AI tools. They set twelve month subscriptions that renew automatically unless canceled 30 days ahead (clause 1.3); Allegra has no store listing of its own. An order of the High Court of Justice of Galicia of 7 July 2026 put basic annual plans of publishers' AI tools, including the earlier K+ assistant, at 1,500 to 3,000 euros; that is a court's range, not the publisher's price.

BB on Firm and Practice CoverageSegment and practice coverage is described with substance, short of the boundaries: what is supported is clear, what is not is left open.

Firm and Practice Coverage

Who the product is actually built for. AmLaw, midlaw, small firm and solo, in house departments, government and courts, and which practice areas are supported rather than merely claimed.

Who it serves is described across four segments through the packages that carry it, and where it stops is not. Allegra is sold on its own through demos and is presented with the publisher's practice management packages. Aranzadi One serves solo lawyers and small firms, with Allegra included for the first user, and the Aranzadi Fusión editions serve midsize and large firms, corporate legal departments and public administrations.

The Allegra Flow announcement of 30 June 2026 addresses law firms and legal departments in any area of law. The content is Spanish: the launch announcement describes the most complete collection in the Spanish market, close to 10 million documents, and the analysis modes cover contracts, compliance policies, the user's own briefs and opposing filings. The publisher also markets AI to tax, labor and accounting advisers and to municipalities through other databases.

Coverage depth by practice area is not stated, nor which databases a subscription opens to Allegra, nor the tasks and firm types it does not suit.

  • Allegra has no posted price; you ask Aranzadi LA LEY for a demo.
  • There are two versions: Allegra, and Allegra Flow, which adds step by step plans for a whole case.
  • The Aranzadi One office software for small firms includes Allegra for one person.
  • Subscriptions bought in the company's online shop last a year and renew unless you cancel 30 days before.

Structure without a figure. Allegra is sold through demo requests in two editions: Allegra, for research, document analysis and drafting, and Allegra Flow, which adds matter plans and phased workflows. Aranzadi One, the practice management package for solo lawyers and small firms, includes Allegra for the first user. Aranzadi LA LEY's general conditions of sale for its online store set twelve month subscriptions that renew automatically unless canceled 30 days ahead (clause 1.3); Allegra has no store listing of its own. No rate, unit of charge or tier price is published.

Implementation: No setup or implementation fee is stated; the launch announcement says the solution includes support and expert training.

Confidentiality and data terms: Not applicable in the Spanish market; the general conditions of sale carry a confidentiality clause (1.4) and an AI tools clause (1.5), and no data processing terms specific to Allegra are published.

Note: No figure is published on any Aranzadi LA LEY page. An order of the High Court of Justice of Galicia of 7 July 2026 put basic annual plans of publishers' AI tools, including Aranzadi LA LEY's earlier assistant K+, at 1,500 to 3,000 euros; that is a court's range across several products, not the publisher's published price.

Legal Signals

What each signal means

A signal records what public sources say on the date shown. It is not a grade and it is not a recommendation. Where a signal reads Not addressed, it means the index did not locate the material in public sources on that date, which is a statement about disclosure rather than about the product.

Confidentiality and Privilege

Client Data in Training

Can material a lawyer puts into this product be used to train a model?

Never, in the contract

The published terms prohibit training on customer content. Not a policy page, the agreement.

Clause 1.5 of Aranzadi LA LEY's general conditions of sale, which govern purchases in its online store and carry a clause on its AI tools, says the client's prompts will in no case be used to train its present and future AI tools; the launch announcement of 26 March 2026 says client data and queries are never used to train external models. The same clause grants Aranzadi LA LEY and its affiliates a license with no time limit to use prompts that contain no personal data to validate quality as the component evolves.

Prompt and Output Retention

How long does the product keep what a lawyer typed, and can that be set to zero?

Disclosed without a period

Retention is acknowledged in public materials with no stated period.

No period is stated for prompts, uploaded documents or drafts. Clause 1.5 of the general conditions of sale grants Aranzadi LA LEY a license with no time limit to use prompts that contain no personal data for quality validation, and clause 9 keeps buyers' personal data for statutory periods.

Ethical Walls and Matter Segregation

Does retrieval respect the firm’s ethical walls, or can the model read across them?

Not addressed

No located public material addresses walls or matter level segregation.

Credentials are personal and staff access is limited to need, and nothing describes separation between users, teams or matters, including when Allegra results are saved to a case file.

Third Party Request and Subpoena Notice

If someone subpoenas the vendor for a firm’s data, does the firm hear about it first?

Disclosure addressed, notice absent

Published terms or policy address disclosure to authorities or in response to legal process, and no commitment or reservation regarding customer notice is located anywhere. The vendor has told the customer that data can leave and has said nothing about whether the customer hears of it.

Clause 9 of the general conditions of sale says buyers' data may be passed to the tax authorities and to banks, auditors and couriers, with no notice language, and clause 1.4 commits to the utmost confidentiality over data the client enters without addressing legal demands. No notice commitment or transparency report is published.

Accuracy and Authority

Primary Law Corpus Provenance

Where does the law in this product come from, and does the vendor have the right to use it?

Sources named, basis unstated

Sources are identified without stating the license or rights basis.

The launch announcement says Allegra works only on Aranzadi LA LEY's collection of close to 10 million documents with its authors' expert analysis. The database page counts more than 9 million judgments and an average of 500 content updates a day. Clause 10 of the general conditions of sale says the judgments in the publisher's products are supplied by the Judicial Documentation Center (CENDOJ) of the General Council of the Judiciary. No source or rights basis is given for legislation.

Good Law Verification

Does the product tell you when the authority it just cited has been overruled?

Prompts the user to verify

The product instructs the reader to check the citation without performing the check.

The AI guide hub says Allegra answers on the basis of legislation in force, and no page describes a status check on cited legislation or judgments or names a citator. Clause 1.5 of the general conditions of sale says AI results may not reflect correct or current information and must always be verified by professionals.

Refusal and Uncertainty Behavior

What does the product do when the answer is not in the corpus?

Not addressed

No located public material addresses what the product does when it cannot ground an answer.

Nothing describes what Allegra does when the collection holds no support for an answer.

Fabricated Citation Record

Does a public court record exist addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations in output from this product?

None located

No court order, opinion or disciplinary record addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations produced by this product has been located as of the date shown. This is a statement about the public record on that one subject, not a finding about the product, and this signal is not a litigation history.

The AI Hallucination Cases database maintained by Damien Charlotin records no case naming Allegra or Aranzadi. In an order of 7 July 2026, the Social Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia fined a lawyer over fabricated citations and set the amount by reference to the annual cost of publishers' AI tools, naming K+, Aranzadi LA LEY's earlier assistant, among them. The order did not identify the tool the lawyer used or make any finding about any product. No court order, opinion or disciplinary record addresses citations produced by Allegra.

Professional Responsibility

Bar Guidance Alignment

Has the vendor engaged in public with the ethics opinions its buyers are bound by?

Generic reference

Public materials refer to professional responsibility in general terms without naming guidance.

The product page's principles say legal experts supervise and tune the AI so that its results meet professional legal standards, and the launch announcements cite alignment with the EU AI Act. No ethics opinion, article of the Spanish legal profession's code of conduct or guidance of its General Council is engaged in the Allegra materials.

Billing and Fee Posture

Does the vendor address what happens to the bill when the work takes an hour instead of six?

Savings claims only

Public materials claim time savings without addressing billing or disclosure, and the product sits inside a fee relationship between a lawyer and a client where those savings would change the bill.

Customer quotes on the product page describe large time savings in legal research and analysis, and one firm credits Allegra with three won matters in about a month. Nothing addresses how AI assisted work is recorded, billed or disclosed to clients.

Outside Counsel Guideline Readiness

Can a firm get this vendor through a client’s AI clause without a bespoke negotiation?

Not addressed

Court Disclosure Support

If a judge’s standing order requires an AI disclosure, can the product produce one?
