Scorpion
Scorpion is a digital marketing company for law firms and other local businesses, run by Scorpion Enterprises, LLC under founder and chief executive Rustin Kretz. Its law firm offer, RevenueMAX, pairs a website Scorpion builds and hosts with AI products that run the marketing around it. Ranking AI steers SEO, while Advertising AI and Budgets AI place and fund paid campaigns on Google, Microsoft, Meta and ChatGPT. Landing Page AI writes and rearranges landing pages, and Reputation AI times review requests and replies automatically to five star reviews.
Convert answers calls, texts, chats and form leads with an AI voice assistant and a messaging assistant that book consultations. Leads AI rates each inquiry, and Revenue Intelligence ties spend to signed cases and case value using data drawn daily from Clio Manage. Scorpion and Clio name each other sole preferred partners. Firms work in a client platform at app.scorpion.co with a dedicated account team. The law firm pages cover personal injury, criminal defense, family law, immigration, estate and probate, bankruptcy and employment practices, and Scorpion says it has worked with thousands of firms. Prices are quoted on request, with a 12 month platform term and month to month advertising.

AI Centrality
How much of the product is actually AI. Whether the machine learning is the mechanism the buyer is paying for or a feature layered onto conventional software, and whether the vendor is specific about which is which.
RevenueMAX is a set of named AI products wrapped around a hosted website and an account team, and each one runs a different piece of a firm's marketing. Advertising AI learns which leads become retained cases and feeds that signal to the bidding systems of Google, Microsoft and Meta. The terms describe Scorpion's paid advertising software, the Scorpion Advertising Machine, as proprietary AI. Since July 2026 Advertising AI also plans and manages ads inside ChatGPT.
Budgets AI moves spend every day toward the channels producing cases, from Google Local Services Ads to Thumbtack and Angi. Ranking AI adjusts SEO as ranking and lead data change, with Scorpion's specialists putting the strategy in place. On the site itself, Landing Page AI writes copy, chooses layouts and images, and drops layouts that underperform. Convert and Scorpion Connect handle the conversation, answering calls, texts and chats around the clock and booking consultations.
Leads AI rates every inquiry and how well the firm's team handled it, and Reputation AI times review requests and replies to five star reviews. Video production, call tracking and the account team round out the service.
Citation Accuracy and Hallucination Disclosure
Whether the vendor publishes measured accuracy on citations and assertions, grounds output to primary sources, and says plainly what its system does when it does not know. Legal has a documented public record of fabricated citations reaching filed briefs, so an untested claim of accuracy is not evidence.
Nothing Scorpion's AI produces is legal research. The output is marketing copy, ads, review replies and conversations with prospective clients, and no accuracy or error rate is given for any of it. Grounding comes from the firm's own material and from Scorpion's history with other clients. Convert is pretrained on a firm's services, hours and service areas and trained on thousands of real Scorpion client conversations.
Scorpion Connect learns each firm's services, story and selling points and answers from them. Generated pages draw on what people look for online, and review replies are tuned for rankings. Scorpion writes up to ten English content pages for a new website. Once the site is live, generated text can state a firm's results, credentials and practice areas, which lawyer advertising rules govern, and no step holds that text to the firm's actual record. Accuracy and completeness are disclaimed in the terms, and no campaign performance is guaranteed.
Autonomy and Oversight Model
What the system decides on its own, what a lawyer must approve, and whether the vendor documents where the review point sits. A tool that drafts under review and a tool that files without one are different products and different risks.
The firm decides how much of its phone line Convert takes. It runs in one of four modes, covering missed calls only, after hours only, all day in place of a phone menu, or text follow up with leads that did not book. Its messaging assistant hands leads that are ready to close to the firm's team with context. The marketing side runs with less supervision. Pages are created and updated without configuration, five star reviews get automatic replies, and ad spend shifts daily across channels.
ChatGPT ad budgets start small and scale with volume and performance. The account team sets strategy and runs campaigns on the firm's behalf, with results visible in the client platform. A new website goes live only after the firm approves it, and the terms let Scorpion refuse, modify or remove firm content. No review queue or approval setting is described for generated ads, pages or review replies before they run under the firm's name.
Operational and Outcome Evidence
Named, dated evidence that the product works in production at real firms or legal departments. Case studies with figures and identified customers count. Unattributed testimonials and launch announcements do not.
Named law firm clients come with results attached. Arnold & Itkin reports six times the new cases, Owenby Law 75 percent more cases and DUI Heroes twice as many, each with a named attorney. Coker, Robb & Cannon, a client since 2014, reports a sixfold return, 20 percent revenue growth and doubled leads year over year. Mortensen & Reinheimer attributes 80 percent of its revenue to Scorpion. McGee, Lerer & Ogrin reports four times the clients and three new offices, and Turner Law Group seven times the keyword rankings.
On the intake side, a Twilio customer story gives Convert a 39 percent higher booking rate, 6,500 appointments and $8.4 million in revenue in its first three months. Convert's October 2025 launch reported 26 percent higher booking rates in beta. Scorpion says Reputation AI brings two to five times more reviews and a half star rise in rating. Most of these figures come without a time period or method, and Coker, Robb & Cannon appears at a sixfold return on its own page and sevenfold in a blog post.
Privilege and Confidentiality Posture
How client confidences are handled: attorney client privilege and work product treatment, segregation of one client matter from another, whether client data trains any model, and what the vendor commits to in writing rather than in marketing.
Firm data stays the firm's property, and Scorpion holds a worldwide, royalty free license to use, adapt and publish it while delivering the subscriptions. Under section 8.3 of the terms, Scorpion may also pool aggregate data across all subscribers for audience insights that can feed general advertising and consumer profiling. The privacy policy, effective August 2024, lets aggregated or deidentified data serve any business purpose.
On the Clio side, Scorpion reads lead source, intake status and case values and says it cannot see confidential case data or privileged information. Scorpion also says data sent through OpenAI's APIs does not train public models. Intake conversations hold what prospective clients tell the assistant about their legal problems before any engagement. The terms carry no privilege, work product or prospect confidentiality clause, and nothing in them keeps one firm's data apart from a competing client firm in the same market.
UPL and Professional Responsibility Posture
Whether the vendor is clear that it supplies a tool rather than legal advice, who its audience is, and how it addresses unauthorized practice of law, competence and supervision duties, and jurisdiction limits. ABA Formal Opinion 512 is the reference point. Where the advice line is not the duty a product raises, the axis is read through the nearest professional duty it does raise: judicial conduct rules and the reviewing duty for products sold only to courts, and the duty to bill for time actually spent for products that draft time entries.
Scorpion sells marketing technology and services, and none of it is offered as legal advice or legal services. Its intake AI is built to stay out of legal advice, with guardrails against promises, predictions and advice and a handoff to staff. On advertising rules, a 2022 post walks firms through ABA Model Rules 7.1 to 7.3, cautions against implying that results will repeat, and points firms to their state bar. The products themselves write and place advertising under the firm's name across the website, landing pages, ads, review replies and chat.
Under the terms, the firm keeps its own data lawful. They say nothing about attorney advertising rules, state filing requirements or who reviews content for compliance, and no jurisdiction limit applies to what Scorpion produces.
AI Governance and Bias Disclosure
Published governance over model behavior: who owns it inside the vendor, what is tested before release, and what is disclosed about disparate output across matter types, parties, or populations.
Scorpion's AI governance lives in its law firm blog rather than in a policy or product document. Its February 2026 intake framework sets out written AI policies covering approved tools, vendors and ongoing reviews, guardrails against promises, predictions and advice, encryption, and access limited by role. A January 2026 post gives four standards for choosing AI vendors, among them private environments with clear rules on data use and retention.
Matt Bentley, Scorpion's chief data scientist, spoke for the 2023 AI Chat launch. No owner of AI risk, testing regime or release review is named, and results across practice areas, languages or callers are not reported. The assistants learn from Scorpion client conversations, with no account of how those conversations are chosen. RevenueMAX won a 2025 BIG Innovation Award, and Scorpion won a 2026 MarTech Breakthrough Award for lead management.
AI Safety and Data Stewardship
Retention, deletion, access control, and what happens to prompts and documents after they are processed. Whether the vendor states its subprocessors and its incident practice, or leaves the buyer to assume.
Scorpion acts as processor for a firm's client data and keeps it as the firm instructs and the law requires, under a privacy policy effective August 2024. Individuals can ask to access, correct, delete or limit sharing of their data through dataprivacy@scorpion.co. Under the terms, Scorpion commits to appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards and to applicable privacy law, and sensitive personal information stays out of subscriber data.
Scorpion says it encrypts data in transit and at rest, limits access by role and need, and destroys sensitive data by documented methods. Calls are recorded by default under separate recorded call terms, and recordings sit with texts, emails and notes in the client platform. Recordings, chats and AI conversations have no set retention period, subprocessors are not listed, and no incident notice period is stated.
AI Liability and Recourse
What the vendor stands behind contractually when its output is wrong. Indemnities, caps, carve outs, insurance, and whether any of it is published or only reachable through a negotiated agreement.
Scorpion's customer terms run indemnities both ways. Scorpion covers the firm against claims arising from Scorpion website content or technology, intellectual property infringement and its own breach of data protection duties. The firm covers Scorpion for claims arising from firm data and its use of the subscriptions. Products are warranted to materially conform to their specifications and are otherwise provided as is, with accuracy and completeness disclaimed and replacement as the sole remedy.
No campaign performance is guaranteed. The cap on liability clause carries a heading with no figure, and section 8.36 says the limitations are reflected in the pricing. Disputes go to JAMS arbitration in Salt Lake County under Utah law, with a class action waiver. Suspension for nonpayment makes the rest of the term due, and a chargeback counts as a material breach that cannot be cured.
Practice Systems Integration Depth
How deeply the product reaches into the systems legal work already lives in: document management such as iManage and NetDocuments, Word and Outlook, contract lifecycle management, matter management, e-billing, and court filing systems.
Clio is the deepest connection, under a partnership in which Scorpion and Clio name each other sole preferred partners. Leads flow into Clio Grow, and Scorpion pulls client data and revenue from Clio Manage every day. Lead source, intake status and estimated and actual case values then tie each signed case to the channel that produced it. Revenue Intelligence turns that into four views, by community, by profitability per practice area, by client and by lifetime value.
On the intake side, Convert connects to schedulers and books directly where they allow it, and its release notes name Clio and ServiceTitan. Conversion data goes back to Google, Microsoft and Meta to train their bidding. Inside the client platform, one inbox holds texts, calls, emails and notes beside scheduling, invoicing and payments. Connections to other case management systems, document management or electronic billing are not described, and there is no public API or developer documentation.
Deployment Model and Data Residency
Where the software runs and where the data sits. Multi tenant cloud, single tenant, private deployment, on premises, and whether region of residence is a published option or an enterprise conversation.
Everything runs as a hosted service. Firm websites sit on Scorpion's own content management system, and RevenueMAX, Convert and the client platform are delivered from Scorpion's side. AI work runs in Scorpion managed environments on Microsoft Azure and in Scorpion controlled data centers, according to a February 2026 post. No region, tenancy model or processing location is stated for websites, call recordings, chats or AI conversations, and the setup is the same for every firm.
A new site launches in four to ten weeks. Website files pass to the firm after 24 full monthly payments or for a one time fee of $10,000. Scorpion's FAQ says a firm owns its website once the contract ends but not the content management system behind it, so a move means a rebuild with another vendor.
Security Certifications and Trust Center
Independent attestation a buyer can pull without a sales call: SOC 2, ISO 27001, penetration test summaries, a trust center with current reports and named scope rather than a badge image.
Scorpion keeps its security documentation on a trust portal at trust.scorpion.co. Its customer terms commit to appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards. The website, privacy policy, acceptable use policy and terms name no SOC 2 report, ISO 27001 certificate, auditor or audit period. The privacy policy adds that Scorpion cannot guarantee absolute security. Sensitive personal information is kept out of subscriber data under the terms, and HIPAA appears only inside that definition.
Scorpion indemnifies the firm for its own breach of data protection duties. No breach notice period appears in the terms or privacy policy, and no subprocessor list sits beside them.
Model Supply Chain Disclosure
Which models sit underneath, whose they are, where they run, and whether the vendor commits to telling customers when that changes. A legal buyer inherits every dependency it cannot see.
OpenAI is the named model provider. Scorpion's February 2026 intake framework says it reaches OpenAI models through APIs and layers its own tools on them inside RevenueMAX. Convert's voice assistant is built on Twilio ConversationRelay, Voice API and Messaging, according to Twilio's customer story. The 2023 AI Chat launch referred to OpenAI's GPT and to training on hundreds of thousands of real customer conversations.
Advertising adds two more dependencies. Scorpion has been a technology partner for ChatGPT advertising since July 2026, with direct access to OpenAI's advertising team, and it trains the bidding systems of Google, Microsoft and Meta. No model or model version is named for any product. Scorpion makes no commitment to tell firms when a model or provider changes.
Commercial Transparency
Whether a buyer can learn what this costs without entering a sales process: published rates, the unit being charged, what sits behind an enterprise tier, and what implementation adds.
Scorpion prices each firm after a consultation, and its FAQ says cost depends on the firm's goals. The contract shape is public. Marketing technology typically runs on a 12 month contract, and advertising on Google Ads, Local Services Ads and Meta is typically month to month. Advertising budgets are paid on top of the subscription, and Scorpion helps the firm set them before Budgets AI moves the money between channels.
The platform term renews for 12 months unless the firm gives 30 days' written notice, while other subscriptions renew monthly. A nonrefundable activation fee is due at signing, and charges are billed in advance without refunds. Late payments carry interest of up to 1 percent a month. Website files transfer after 24 full payments or for a $10,000 fee. A promotion through the end of October 2026 adds $1,000 toward advertising for new clients. No monthly rate, unit of charge or advertising management percentage is published.
Firm and Practice Coverage
Who the product is actually built for. AmLaw, midlaw, small firm and solo, in house departments, government and courts, and which practice areas are supported rather than merely claimed.
Law firms get their own section of Scorpion's business, with pages for personal injury, criminal defense, family law, immigration, estate and probate, bankruptcy and employment law. Case studies span family law, personal injury, criminal defense and DUI practices. Clients named on its pages include Arnold & Itkin, Coker, Robb & Cannon, Drexler Law and Owenby Law. Scorpion says it has worked with thousands of firms over more than 25 years.
It has been a Google partner since 2014 and calls itself Google's largest Local Services Ads provider. Firm size tiers, practice areas it turns away and geographic limits are not stated, and no market is reserved for a single client firm. The same platform and AI products serve home services, franchise, medical and hospital clients. Scorpion bought the digital agency 1SEO in June 2026. The Clio connection is offered in the United States and Canada.

No published figure
- Scorpion gives each firm a price after a talk with its team.
- The main platform is a 12 month contract that renews unless you cancel 30 days ahead.
- Ads usually run month to month.
- There is a signup fee, and website files cost $10,000 if you want them before 24 monthly payments.
Scorpion quotes prices after a consultation, and its FAQ and customer terms set out the contract structure. Marketing technology typically runs on a 12 month contract, and digital advertising on Google Ads, Local Services Ads and Meta is typically month to month. The platform subscription renews for 12 month periods unless the firm gives 30 days' written notice before the term ends. Other subscriptions start with one month and renew monthly. Charges are billed automatically in advance and are not refundable.
Implementation: A nonrefundable activation fee is due at signing, with the amount set in the order. A website built by Scorpion transfers to the firm after 24 full monthly payments, or earlier for a one time fee of $10,000.
Note: Late payments carry interest at 1 percent a month or the legal maximum, whichever is lower. If service is suspended for nonpayment, payments for the rest of the term fall due. A promotion through the end of October 2026 adds $1,000 toward advertising for new clients.
Legal Signals
What each signal meansA signal records what public sources say on the date shown. It is not a grade and it is not a recommendation. Where a signal reads Not addressed, it means the index did not locate the material in public sources on that date, which is a statement about disclosure rather than about the product.
Client Data in Training
Can material a lawyer puts into this product be used to train a model?
Public material states that customer content trains, refines or personalizes models, with no matching term located in the published agreement. Any de identification, anonymization or aggregation qualifier is recorded in the summary.
Scorpion's assistants learn from its client base. Convert's voice and messaging assistants are described as trained on thousands of real Scorpion client interactions, and the 2023 AI Chat launch cited hundreds of thousands of real customer conversations. The terms license firm data to Scorpion for delivering the subscriptions and let it pool aggregate data across subscribers for audience insights and consumer profiling, without mentioning model training.
Section 8.30 lets Scorpion use feedback and anonymous usage analytics to improve its products and publish benchmarks. For outside models, Scorpion says data sent to OpenAI's APIs does not train public models and that public AI tools which train on submitted data stay away from client work.
Prompt and Output Retention
How long does the product keep what a lawyer typed, and can that be set to zero?
Retention is acknowledged in public materials with no stated period.
Client data is kept as the firm instructs and the law requires, with Scorpion acting as processor under a privacy policy effective August 2024 and no set period. Individuals can ask for deletion through dataprivacy@scorpion.co. Inbound calls are recorded by default, and the firm can turn recording off in the platform, with separate recorded call terms incorporated into the agreement. Sensitive data is destroyed by documented methods once it is no longer needed, Scorpion says.
Convert conversations, chat transcripts, lead records and generated content have no retention window, and no zero retention setting is offered. The platform inbox keeps each firm's texts, calls, emails and notes together.
Ethical Walls and Matter Segregation
Does retrieval respect the firm’s ethical walls, or can the model read across them?
No located public material addresses walls or matter level segregation.
Competing law firms in the same market can all run on the same Scorpion platform and AI products, with no limit of one firm per market. The terms describe no separation of one client firm's data, campaigns and conversations from another's. Aggregate data is pooled across all subscribers for audience insights, and Advertising AI learns from which leads become retained cases. The client platform also shows each firm how it stacks up against competitors.
The Clio connection reads lead source, intake status and case values for each firm. Inside a firm, one shared inbox holds texts, calls, emails and notes, with no documented roles or matter level permissions.
Third Party Request and Subpoena Notice
If someone subpoenas the vendor for a firm’s data, does the firm hear about it first?
Published terms or policy address disclosure to authorities or in response to legal process, and no commitment or reservation regarding customer notice is located anywhere. The vendor has told the customer that data can leave and has said nothing about whether the customer hears of it.
Disclosure as required by law is one of the ways Scorpion's privacy policy says it shares information, with no commitment to tell the client firm first. The same list covers service providers, affiliates and parties to a business transfer. The policy makes Scorpion the processor and the client firm the controller of client data. The acceptable use policy says Scorpion's reporting of misuse may include disclosing appropriate customer information.
The confidentiality clause in the customer terms, governed by Utah law, has no compelled disclosure or notice provision. The privacy policy itself gives a Valencia, California address. Call recordings, chat transcripts and lead records sit with Scorpion, and no process for handling a subpoena for them is described.
Primary Law Corpus Provenance
Where does the law in this product come from, and does the vendor have the right to use it?
No located public material identifies the corpus behind the product’s answers.
The material behind Scorpion's AI is marketing data. Its assistants and page generators work from a firm's own services, hours, service areas and website, from Scorpion's history of client conversations and campaign results, and from ranking and advertising signals. Convert is pretrained on the firm's information and trained on thousands of Scorpion client interactions. Keyword and content choices come from ranking and lead data, and landing page copy from what people look for online.
None of it draws on case law, statutes or legal commentary. Scorpion names no source for statements about the law in generated practice area pages or answers.
Good Law Verification
Does the product tell you when the authority it just cited has been overruled?
No located public material addresses whether authority is checked for subsequent history.
Scorpion's AI writes marketing copy and intake replies that cite no legal authority. Pages, ads, review replies and conversations can still state the law, and no step tests those statements against current authority before they run under a firm's name. Scorpion writes up to ten English content pages for a new site, which launch after the firm approves them. After launch, pages update automatically and five star reviews get automatic replies.
The terms disclaim the accuracy and completeness of Scorpion's products and leave the lawfulness of firm content with the firm.
Refusal and Uncertainty Behavior
What does the product do when the answer is not in the corpus?
The vendor describes refusal or abstention behavior in public materials.
Guardrails stop Scorpion's intake AI from making promises, predictions or giving advice, with clear escalation to staff when needed, and Scorpion says the AI avoids crossing into legal advice. Convert's messaging assistant escalates when needed and hands leads that are ready to close to the firm's team with context. The firm chooses one of four modes, from missed calls only to answering all day. Scorpion Connect answers questions around the clock, including in other languages, and can book appointments and take payments. Leads AI then rates each inquiry and how well the firm's team handled it.
Fabricated Citation Record
Does a public court record exist addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations in output from this product?
No court order, opinion or disciplinary record addressing fabricated or hallucinated legal citations produced by this product has been located as of the date shown. This is a statement about the public record on that one subject, not a finding about the product, and this signal is not a litigation history.
The AI Hallucination Cases database maintained by Damien Charlotin, which records court decisions worldwide that address hallucinated AI content and the tool involved where known, has no entry naming Scorpion. Scorpion's AI writes marketing content, ads and intake conversations rather than court filings, and no accuracy or error rate is given for it.
Bar Guidance Alignment
Has the vendor engaged in public with the ethics opinions its buyers are bound by?
Public materials engage with at least one named ethics opinion.
Lawyer advertising guidance comes from a 2022 post on legal marketing rules that cites ABA Model Rules 7.1 to 7.3. It cautions against wording that suggests a past result will repeat and sends firms to their state bar's rules. Scorpion's February 2026 intake framework says its technology supports professional obligations and keeps its intake AI from giving advice. Neither post ties a rule to how Scorpion's AI writes pages, ads, review replies or intake answers.
The terms leave legal compliance of firm content with the firm and contain no advertising rules clause, and no product setting reflects a state's rules.
Billing and Fee Posture
Does the vendor address what happens to the bill when the work takes an hour instead of six?
The product does not touch a fee between a lawyer and a client. It operates before an engagement exists, or it is bought by a team that bills no client for the work. Savings claims aimed at the buyer’s own cost are recorded in the summary and do not make the row a savings claim, because no client bill is in the loop.
Revenue Intelligence measures the firm's own marketing in cost per signed client, case value by channel, profitability by practice area and lifetime client value. None of Scorpion's AI addresses what a lawyer charges a client, since the products work before an engagement exists. The client platform does include invoicing and payment tools, and Scorpion Connect can accept payments as well as book appointments. Scorpion charges the firm under its own subscription terms, with a 12 month platform term that renews unless the firm gives 30 days' notice and advertising typically month to month. A promotion through October 2026 adds $1,000 toward advertising for new clients.
Outside Counsel Guideline Readiness
Can a firm get this vendor through a client’s AI clause without a bespoke negotiation?
No located public material supports a client side disclosure obligation.
OpenAI and Microsoft Azure are the providers Scorpion names, in its February 2026 intake framework. Its website carries no subprocessor list, data processing addendum or client disclosure pack. The privacy policy names categories of recipients, such as service providers, affiliates and parties to a business transfer. The customer terms describe safeguards in general words and incorporate recorded call terms by reference.
Security documentation sits on a trust portal at trust.scorpion.co, while the website, privacy policy and terms name no SOC 2 report or ISO 27001 certificate. Scorpion's Clio integration FAQ spells out the data it reads, lead source, intake status and estimated and actual case values, and says it has no access to privileged information. An April 2026 post tells firms to get written answers from AI vendors on data storage, subprocessors and breach protocols.
Court Disclosure Support
If a judge’s standing order requires an AI disclosure, can the product produce one?
No located public material addresses court disclosure or verification certification.
Call recordings, an inbox of texts, calls, emails and notes, and the attribution of leads to signed cases are the records Scorpion's platform keeps. None of them marks which model produced a page, ad or reply. Scorpion offers no court disclosure guidance, since its output is marketing content and intake conversations rather than court filings. Pages update automatically after a site launches. Product pages and terms name no model, and Scorpion makes no commitment to tell firms when a provider changes.
