Contract Review & Drafting
AI that reads, marks up, drafts, and negotiates agreements: clause extraction, playbook enforcement, redlining inside Word, first draft generation, and obligation extraction from executed contracts. The buyer is often an in house team measured on cycle time, which makes this the category where automation pressure is highest and where the gap between a suggestion and an accepted change matters most. The decisive evaluation questions are whether the system enforces the buyer's own playbook rather than a generic standard, what its extraction accuracy is on the buyer's contract types rather than on a public corpus, and whether a reviewer can see why a clause was flagged. Vendors should publish how fallback positions are configured, how the tool behaves on a contract type it has not seen, and what happens to the counterparty's paper after review.
Vendors in Contract Review & Drafting
Microsoft Word native suite for drafting, navigating and reviewing complex, high value contracts, aimed at large law firms and corporate legal departments doing transactional work. Five products: Read for navigating definitions, cross references and linked documents without leaving the provision; Proof for automated proofreading across hundreds of checks; Vault for clause level indexing and precedent search against a connected document management system; Enhance for AI powered contract analysis and redline suggestions; and Cascade, launched August 2025, for detecting first, second and third order knock on effects of a change across related contracts. Enterprise contract lifecycle platform, Icertis Contract Intelligence, covering authoring, negotiation, approval, execution, obligation management, risk and compliance and analytics across buy side and sell side agreements. Renamed from Icertis Contract Management as the positioning moved from storing and routing contracts to extracting structured data from them. AI runs through the platform as Icertis Copilots and a contract intelligence engine that extracts clauses, obligations and risk, with an agent layer branded Vera introduced across Engage, Operate and Analyze in 2026, described by the vendor as acting autonomously within boundaries the customer sets. Built on Microsoft Azure with Microsoft as a strategic partner. Founded 2009, based in Bellevue, Washington, with more than $851m raised. States 30 percent of the Fortune 100 as customers across 90 plus countries. Publishes an annual State of Contracting research report.
Enterprise contract lifecycle management platform covering intake, contract creation, no code workflow automation, approvals, negotiation, signature, repository and analytics, sold to in house legal, legal operations, procurement, sales and IT. AI is embedded across the platform rather than sold separately: AI Playbooks drive precise redlining with each play tied to a clause, and Jurist is an agentic AI contract partner running a family of named agents including Manager, Drafting, Editing, Review, Research, Intake and Redlining, alongside Conversational Search over the contract repository. The vendor states Jurist uses proprietary legal AI models with legal engineered prompts. Positions itself as the leading AI CLM and publishes deep integrations including Salesforce and Coupa.
Contract review and legal workflow platform for in house legal, legal operations, procurement and contracting teams, built around attorney written playbooks rather than customer built ones. Ships more than 135 pre built playbooks covering around 10,000 legal issues across contract types, negotiating positions and dozens of countries, maintained as law changes, with a Playbook Agent that converts a customer's own templates and past redlines into structured playbooks. Other surfaces are Assistant, Review and redline in Word or browser, Matter Management with an intake and triage agent, Vault for signed contract storage and extraction, Translation across 28 plus languages, and entity and board management. Publishes an annual contract review benchmark measuring its own system against foundation models. Operated by LegalOn Technologies, which originated in Japan and now runs a US and global business alongside its Japanese one.
Contract lifecycle platform covering generation, negotiation, analysis, compliance and investigation for corporate legal teams and law firms, sold across legal, compliance, procurement, sales, finance, HR and marketing functions. Founded in Cambridge in 2015 by mathematicians. Runs a multi model architecture the vendor calls a Panel of Judges, combining foundation, fine tuned and proprietary models, and in June 2026 introduced Luna Crescent, its own legal intelligence model trained on a curated selection of roughly 3.4 million legal concepts and data points drawn from a corpus of more than 220 million verified legal documents. Luna is deployed inside the vendor's own AWS environment, which the vendor states reduces reliance on external model providers and limits exposure to additional subprocessors. Each customer receives a dedicated single tenant instance, and on premises deployment is available.
Contract review, drafting and negotiation platform for in house legal teams and law firms handling high volumes of incoming contracts. Delivered through a Microsoft Word add in with Ask, Draft, Edit and Research modes alongside a browser application with a searchable repository of executed contracts. Reviews against customer playbooks, with the vendor's own legal team building and maintaining those playbooks as a managed service, including separate heavy and light markup positions for the same contract type. Also sells Managed Services as a distinct line, combining the software with human legal review. Founded in London in 2019, with offices in New York and Singapore. Partners with Anthropic and AWS, and is backed by Google, Temasek and PayPal Ventures among others.
AI contract review and drafting for transactional lawyers, delivered primarily as a Microsoft Word add in and also working in Google Docs. Core features are Review for redlining against a firm's standards, Draft for clauses and documents from scratch or from saved precedent, Playbooks for encoding review standards, Ask for cited answers, and Compare for benchmarking a clause against thousands of similar agreements. Spellbook Associate is a multi document agent for longer matters. An Autonomous Contract Management product covering intake through signed contract search is in early access. Founded in St John's, Newfoundland in 2018 as Rally and rebranded to Spellbook in 2022. The architecture is grounding rather than fine tuning: general purpose models are connected to proprietary market data and required to fetch and cite. Named exclusive AI partner of the Canadian Bar Association.
Enterprise contract lifecycle platform sold as Workday Contract Lifecycle Management and Workday Contract Intelligence, both powered by Evisort AI, covering intake, drafting, AI redlining against a corporate playbook, negotiation, approval routing, signature and a unified contract repository. Sold across legal, procurement, finance, HR, revenue operations, compliance, M and A and information security teams. The AI engine orchestrates traditional, generative and agentic components including a proprietary large language model fine tuned for contracts and an orchestration layer that applies multiple models per task, with OCR plus AI ingestion that handles low quality scans and handwriting, pretrained extraction across roughly 30 standard contract terms, self service custom AI model creation for any other term, and an Ask AI conversational layer returning answers linked to source documents. Enters the index as the surviving product following the absorption of Evisort, which Workday acquired in 2024 and whose brand no longer trades independently; the underlying platform holds an accredited ISO/IEC 42001 certification achieved as Evisort in October 2024 and carried forward.
